The eight-man tournament began on Wednesday.
On Wednesday, Ricochet and Bronson were both victorious in the first broadcasts of WWE Speed. They advanced to an eight-man tourney to crown the inaugural Speed champ.
The show introduced the new format of match where bouts last only three minutes, emulating Stardom’s High Speed Division. WWE aired the two matches separately with a combined runtime of seven minutes.
In the first match of the X exclusive broadcast, Ricochet defeated Dragon Lee. Both men were on non-stop offensive, as expected.
Ricochet responded to nearly everything Lee offered early on. Lee’s step-up knee and poisonrana were countered with a Ricochet clothing line for a nearfall.
Lee went for Project Dragon but Ricochet transitioned a fireman’s carry into a Kick to the Face followed by the Recoil with four seconds left.
Reed defeated Cedric Alexander in the second match, winning in just over two minutes. Reed’s power was used to counter Alexander’s speed, which is not surprising. Alexander did a top rope flip to Reed on the mat to gain the advantage for a moment before Reed hit the DVD for a closefall.
Then, a clothesline was used followed by a senton and finally the Tsunami from the top rope.
WWE has not revealed the full list of participants in the tournament. However, Axiom is scheduled to face JD MacDonagh on Wednesday for another tournament match.
