Paul Heyman plans to let the Philadelphia crowd direct the direction of his WWE Hall of Fame address.
Heyman will be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame this Friday, April 5. Heyman was asked on Wednesday if he had his speech written down during an appearance on The Rich Eisen Show. Heyman said he would “wing it” by listening to the audience and gauging what they wanted to hear.
No, I will figure it out as we go. I’m going take the pulse that night. I’m just going to wing it. I don’t really know what the crowd expects from me. Is this a group that wants me to discuss the modern WWE, Roman Reigns, The Bloodline, and the WrestleMania Main Event of Roman Reigns against Cody Rhodes in Philadelphia? Is this a Philadelphia crowd that wants to talk about ECW? Is this a group that wants to be inspired and hear a speech on pursuing your own dreams?
I won’t really know until I measure the temperature in the room that evening. You know better than me that you must always know your audience. Once I get a feel for the crowd, I will know pretty well what I need to do to satisfy them.
Heyman, who feels that his body of work still isn’t complete, accepted the WWE Hall of Fame award this year after declining it several times. Heyman accepted the induction due to the fact that this is Paul “Triple H’ Levesque’s Hall of Fame class and this is the 40th WrestleMania. He also chose to accept it because Philadelphia was the home of ECW.
The induction ceremony will take place at the Wells Fargo Center after SmackDown on Friday, April 5th. The ceremony will be broadcast live on Peacock at 10 p.m. Eastern Time.
The WWE Hall of Fame class of 2024 will also include Bull Nakano (Mike Rotunda and Barry Windham), Thunderbolt Patterson and Muhammad Ali. Lia Maivia will also be inducted.
Heyman will play a major role in WrestleMania’s main events. In the night one main match, Cody Rhodes and Seth Rollins will face Roman Reigns and The Rock from The Bloodline. Night two will feature Reigns and Rhodes for Undisputed WWE Universal Championship.
