McAfee was joined by Michael Cole and Corey Graves in the broadcast booth.
Pat McAfee appeared later as a surprise entrant for the men’s Royal Rumble. McAfee was the first to enter the ring, but he was eliminated almost immediately after facing Bron Breakker and Omos.

Pat McAfee returned to the Royal Rumble for the second consecutive year to provide commentary.
McAfee joined Michael Cole and Corey Graves on the commentary desk for Saturday night’s event. McAfee was announced as a special guest commentary for the evening. The show opened with the women’s Royal Rumble match.
Michael Cole was surprised by McAfee’s appearance as a commentator at the Royal Rumble in 2023. Cole said that he knew McAfee was coming. McAfee was originally discussed as a possible entrant in last year’s Rumble men’s match, but due to his busy schedule he wasn’t able get into ring shape.
McAfee was a full-time SmackDown commentator from April 2021 until September 2022. He left the role after joining ESPN College GameDay. McAfee’s relationship with ESPN was further expanded when he brought McAfee’s sports talk show to ESPN.
McAfee is still a part of WWE, despite his departure from commentary. He appeared at Fastlane, WrestleMania and SmackDown in September last year.
Cole and Graves narrated Friday night’s SmackDown episode together. Kevin Patrick, Graves’ SmackDown broadcast partner, was released earlier this week by WWE.
