Pat McAfee is taking a break from WWE as college football season is about to begin.
McAfee announced today on his Instagram story that tonight’s WWE Raw episode will be the “last one” he calls. McAfee is a panelist for ESPN’s College GameDay since 2022. He announced last month he would return to GameDay this season.
McAfee replied, “It’s okay, it’s the last Monday Night Raw for a little while.” “I’m very sad that tonight will be the last time I visit that wonderful WWE family in a while. Let’s go for a day. I’m sad. The football season has begun, which is great. But I’m meant to be with the WWE family. “I know it, and I’m sure they do too.”
This Saturday, the first College GameDay of the season will be broadcast live from Ireland.
McAfee, a former NFL player and sports media star, is currently a part of the WWE Raw commentating team along with Michael Cole.
Joe Tessitore, an ESPN/ABC broadcaster, will take over as Raw’s new play-by voice on September 2. Cole will then move to SmackDown. Cole will return to Raw in January 2025 when Raw debuts on Netflix. Tessitore moves over to SmackDown.
The college football season also ends in January.
