NJPW Resurgence Notes: Title changes announced for Fantasticamania USA in todays Wrestling news
Resurgence has undergone two title changes.
ELP & Hikuleo defeated TMDK (Mikey Nichlls & Shane Haste), to win the Strong Openweight Tag Team Titles. Hikuleo choking slammed Haste in the finish, allowing ELP a splash to win. TMDK held the titles only for 29 days.
The Strong Openweight title was changed hands. Gabe Kidd defeated Eddie Kingston in an intense no ropes, last man standing match. Kidd finished the match by giving Kingston a suplex into the barricade after he had pushed Kingston through a table. Kidd failed to reach the ten-count, and Kidd won his first singles championship in New Japan.
Kingston has now lost the Strong Openweight title he held for 311 days. He defeated KENTA at Independence Day Night 2 in July last year. Kingston now has lost the Continental Crown, the last of the three titles that he held recently.
During Resurgence, it was announced that Fantasticamania would be held in San Jose at the San Jose Civic Auditorium on July 13. It will be a joint tour with CMLL similar to that which takes place every year in Japan.
Henare returned to the company, after being out since February. He challenged the winner of the NEVER openweight title match. Shingo Takagi retained the title by defeating Yuya Uemura, setting up the match for the next title.
In the main event Jon Moxley defeated Shota umino to retain his IWGP World Heavyweight Title. After the match, EVIL, Ren Narita, and Moxley attacked Moxley. EVIL painted the championship black, and posed over Moxley as a way to end the show.
