NJPW announces SANADA has been cleared medically to return in todays Wrestling news
SANADA, who was forced to retire from the ring by illness, is preparing his return.
The former IWGP World Heavyweight champion hasn’t wrestled in nearly a month. On April 30, it was announced that he would be pulled from a series of NJPW shows and undergo a medical evaluation.
SANADA is now medically cleared to make a return. He’ll be in the ring again “in the near-future.”
“SANADA has been away from matches in Hiroshima Sun Plaza Hall since April 27 due to a medical concern. He has undergone evaluation and has been cleared by a Tokyo hospital. NJPW announced that SANADA would be returning to the ring soon. “SANADA and New Japan Pro-Wrestling thank fans for their support and understanding.”
SANADA missed the rest of NJPW’s Wrestling Dontaku Tour, both nights of Wrestling Dontaku and United Japan Pro-Wrestling’s All Together event.
SANADA was a former IWGP World Heavyweight champion, who held the title between April 2023 and January 2024.
SANADA’s return will likely be a challenge for the IWGP Global Heavyweight Championship. David Finlay referred to SANADA after he won the title at Wrestling Dontaku. Finlay was defeated by SANADA in the finals 2023 New Japan Cup.
