Nick Khan updates WWE’s plans on international PLEs in todays Wrestling news
WWE’s five biggest PLEs will take place in the United States or Canada.
WWE President Nick Khan updated the audience on Wednesday at the World Congress of Sports Convention on the company’s future plans for premium live event venues.
Khan stated that WWE’s five biggest PLEs, (WrestleMania, Royal Rumble, SummerSlam, Survivor Series, and Money in the Bank ) will take place in the United States or Canada. The goal is to have other PLEs held in international locations.
Khan said, “We sat together a few year ago and decided that the five biggest premium live events should be held in the United States of America or Canada.” “All the other events are aimed at being held in international locations,” Khan said.
WWE will be holding overseas events in the next few months. Backlash (4 May in France), King & Queen Of The Ring (25 May in Saudi Arabia), Clash At The Castle (15 June in Scotland), and Bash In Berlin (31 August in Germany) are all happening.
Money in the Bank will be held in Toronto on July 6. SummerSlam will be held in Cleveland on August 3.
Khan spoke about the importance of international PLEs. “There’s an halo effect with those big deals.” The relevancy of the WWE increases, as do merchandise sales. Who knows, maybe the next Yao Ming from that country is watching [WWE] in 10 years and wants to do it.
Khan also noted at the convention that WWE hasn’t announced the location of WrestleMania yet.
