John Cena’s dream to bring WWE WrestleMania in London to 2023, which was initially thought to be a longshot, may actually be closer to becoming reality.
Multiple news outlets reported on Thursday that London Mayor Sadiq Khan met with WWE CEO Nick Khan, and chief content officer Paul “Triple H” Levesque at City Hall in a surprise meeting to discuss the possibility of bringing this annual two-night event for the first ever time to London.
The mayor has made it clear that he wants to bring major international sporting events to London, including WrestleMania. In April, he posted on X that he wanted to bring major international sports events to London. Levesque responded with “Let’s Talk.”
He told the Daily Star, “It’s exciting to work with the WWE team.” The meeting was very productive and we will continue to discuss how to make our dream a reality.
The next WrestleMania will be held in Las Vegas, Indiana. A date has not yet been set for the event.
“Sadiq Khan, his team and the Mayor are working hard to position London as a sports and entertainment capital of Europe. It has been great hearing more about his vision of how WWE can help them on this journey,” Nick Khan said. “There is still a lot to be discussed but we share Mayor Khan’s ambition to bring an outstanding WWE premium live event in London.”
TKO management has publicly stated that a site fee is one of the items to be “discussed in further detail”. This goal was expressed on investor calls and at speaking events. The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia also publicly expressed their desire to host WrestleMania, as their annual commitment to WWE for two PLEs per year puts them in a position to make the decision.
