Nick Aldis felt “a little betrayed” after All In 2018. in todays Wrestling news
Aldis spoke to Inside the Ropes in recent times.
Nick Aldis says he felt “a bit betrayed” after 2018’s All In.
Aldis lost the NWA World Heavyweight Title to Cody Rhodes in one of the featured matches on the show. He told Inside the Ropes recently that his sense of betrayal was a result of learning that Tony Khan and The Elite members were familiar with each other and had worked on a project which would eventually become AEW.
Aldis said:
I felt a bit betrayed after I learned that they all knew Tony Khan, and had been plotting to do this. As we moved forward a few months, it was like, “Oh, that is already happening, this is sort of a done-deal.” In that regard, I suppose I felt that I should have been informed sooner.
I looked at it as a business deal, meaning Cody at All In. That piece of work did nothing but good for everyone involved. It wasn’t as if people looked at him and said, “Oh, he is finished.”
He continued:
Look, I also landed a six figure contract as a result of that. Cody had a pipeline that led to a billionaire. So it was different. I had a millionaire and he had a billionaire.
Aldis won the NWA World title back from Cody in the month following at NWA 70. He would not lose the belt again until 2022, when he lost it to Trevor Murdoch in NWA 73. He left the promotion by the end of the season, briefly returned Impact Wrestling and signed with WWE in August 2023 as a producer.
Aldis went on to discuss what led him to sign with WWE.
He said:
I gave my notice last November to the NWA. I told WWE that I would be a free-agent as of January 1st. I reached out to Paul Levesque, Bruce Prichard, and said I would love to explore opportunities with WWE.
We had some positive discussions and it was implied at the time that things were a bit unpredictable on the corporate front which, as we later learned, was evidently the impending sale of the company and the sort shift in management and responsibilities.
It was suggested to me that I stay busy for a while and then come back in a couple of months when the situation is more clear. So, I did. I went out and did some things, had my little run at Impact, which i thought went really well, and then Bruce called me during that time and asked, ‘How would you feel about becoming a producer’? He said: “Look, I realize it’s not what you were expecting, but we can get it done right away. We can get you in earlier as a producer.
