Nic Nemeth is now the TNA World Champion. He won the title after surviving a six-way match at Saturday’s Slammiversary event in Montreal.
Nemeth, the AAA Mega Champion and also the current champion, won the match after pinning Frankie Kazarian. Also in the match were former World Champions Josh Alexander, Steve Maclin, Joe Hendry, and reigning champion Moose.
Hendry pinned Moose, ensuring that there would be a champion. Alexander then eliminated Hendry, surprising many who thought the popular star would be leaving Montreal with the title due to his crossover success in WWE NXT.
Alexander then flipped over and kicked Hendry to the ground, leading into his C4 pin. The Montreal fans weren’t happy with the outcome, but they got a little satisfaction when Alexander was pin by Nemeth shortly afterwards.
Moose had been champion for 190 days after he defeated Alex Shelley in January’s Hard to Kill. He had defended his title ten times before Saturday.
Montreal was the site of the fourth and final title switch of the evening as the X-Division Tag Team and Digital Media/International Heavyweight championships all found new homes.
