On Saturday, the tour’s opener, titles were exchanged.
The NJPW Nagoya New Beginning event on Saturday crowned new champions.
EVIL defeated Tama tonga in the main match to win the NEVER openweight championship in what could have been Tama’s NJPW swan-song.
The main event ended with a double disqualification when Bullet Club, Guerrillas of Destiny and Hontai members entered the ring while EVIL, Tama and others brawled. Tama insisted the match be restarted with the factions at ringside. EVIL then pinned Tama at the restart, after interference from Dick Togo & Ren Narita.
After the match, an emotional Tama made a promo to thank the fans for their support after announcing earlier in the month that he was leaving NJPW by the end of January.
On the show, Great-O Khan defeated Taiji Ishimori and claimed the provisional KOPW title for 2024.
El Phantasmo and Hikuleo won the NJPW Strong Openweight Tag Team Championship in the evening’s second title match by defeating KENTA and Chase Owens.
Kazuchika’s Okada also competed in his final NJPW match at Nagoya on Saturday, after the star announced that he will be leaving NJPW next month after three dates.
