Mustafa Ali to lead NJPW Strong Resurgence in todays Wrestling news
Ali will try to remain unbeaten in NJPW
Mustafa Ali returns to NJPW in May for the Resurgence event.
The current TNA X-Division champion announced on X, formerly Twitter, that he would be part of the pay-per-view on May 11th in response to a rumor that his future with the company was in question.
Ali’s opponent is still unknown.
Bodyslam reported on Friday that Ali had been set to participate in the annual Best of the Super Juniors Tournament and go deep into the tournament, but that he was not intended to win it. This was the point of contention which resulted him being pulled. The report also said that his backstage post match promo after this month’s Windy City Riot “rubbed people wrong.”
Ali has been contacted independently for comment.
Rocky Romero, NJPW wrestler/executive and X Friday’s guest, refuted any claims made about the Bodyslam story.
Ali’s victory at Windy City Riot over Hiromu Tahashi was the 38-year old’s first NJPW match. Ali has been 30-0 since he was released from WWE and is currently the TNA X-Division champion.
He has also worked for Pro Wrestling Revolver GCW, Deadlock Pro, and other promotions. He will be on the mats Friday for Action Wrestling, in Georgia, and Saturday for Northeast Wrestling, in Connecticut. On Sunday, he will be at the C2E2 Expo, in Chicago.
