MJF is now the AEW International Champion.
Maxwell Jacob Friedman won the title after a close fight that almost ended in a draw.
MJF won the pinfall match against Ospreay by hitting the champ with a Dynamite Diamond ring following a referee’s bump. The bout was won with only two seconds left in the 60-minute time limit.
The underhanded finish and the result of the match could lead to a rematch at Wembley Stadium in the next month. However, the rematch is yet to be confirmed.
Ospreay would have won the match if he had used the Tiger Driver 91 instead of the ref bump or the Dynamite diamond ring shot. Ospreay’s hesitation and refusal to use the move which caused a storyline injury for Bryan Danielson, allowed MJF push Ospreay towards the referee in order to set up the final.
