MJF wants a full-time career in Hollywood and Wrestling in todays Wrestling news
The AEW world champion also discussed his role as “Iron Claw”.
AEW World champion MJF hopes to have a future in Hollywood and pro-wrestling.
MJF spoke with Comicbook.com about his future as an actor. MJF believes that in five years, he will be a regular actor on television and in films. MJF wants to be a full-time pro wrestler and actor at the same time. He also wants to release a new music album.
MJF said, “I genuinely believe that in five years I will be a guy people will see regularly on their television screens outside of the professional wrestler landscape.” “Trust me. I love wrestling way too much to stop being involved. I will still be working full-time but I would like to be acting full-time by then. I would like to release an album by that time. I would like to become a distinguished actor who is recognized for being a great actor who transitioned from wrestler like these greats did it before me. Like Dwayne (The Rock), like Batista. “Like Cena.”
MJF plays Lance Von Erich, a small role in “The Iron Claw.” MJF told Comicbook.com there was a long scene he filmed but there’s only so much space in the movie. The character of Lance Von Erich didn’t end up fitting into the larger picture. MJF called it “an absolute masterpiece,” and he agreed with the decisions made by director Sean Durkin.
There is definitely [an extended scene]. I don’t even know where it will be. I was talking to him in a scene, but Sean and I both understood that if this film is to succeed, it must be about the brothers. Although I enjoyed shooting the scene, it did not add to the overall story or the importance of what the brothers were going through as they dealt with the pressures their father placed on them. It didn’t fit into the puzzle.
I’m certain that you’ll find that a lot of things were cut, and it’s not because they weren’t good. I thought everything that was shot was fantastic. Not only my stuff, but all the actors’ stuff was cut. There’s only a limited amount of time. The brothers are the most important part of the story. It all came down to that. Sean Durkin’s decisions are ones I wholeheartedly agree with. The film is a masterpiece.
In addition to his on-screen role, MJF also has an executive producer credit for “The Iron Claw.”
“I think that it developed based upon how much I contributed to the film behind the scenes, and the relationship I had with Sean Durkin,” MJF said in an interview with Comicbook.com. “He is an incredible director, and he created a wonderful movie with [Zac] Efron [and] [Holt] McCallany. It was a great experience to work with these guys. Chavo Guerrero trained these guys in an amazing way.”
Currently battling a torn Labrum, MJF will defend his AEW World Championship this Saturday (30th December) against Samoa Joe. The pay-per view will be broadcast from MJF’s hometown, Long Island.
