MJF is headed to Mexico.
CMLL announced Friday that MJF would be defending his newly won AEW International title at Arena Mexico on August 2. MJF made the announcement in a video that was shown during Friday’s show at Arena Mexico.
The video showed him in a bath saying that his match with Will Ospreay at Wednesday’s AEW dynamite was his easiest match ever. He said he was the longest-reigning AEW Champion and the new International Champion because he had a killer’s instinct, unlike Ospreay. He said that the best way to help international is to give the title to those “masked morons” in Mexico.
MJF won Wednesday’s title in a match lasting 59:59. Ospreay was hesitant to use the Tiger Driver at the end, a weapon he had said he wouldn’t use again. The pause gave MJF the opportunity to escape and hit Ospreay at the last second with the Dynamite Diamant Ring.
