Milwaukee hopes to host a future WWE Royal Rumble in the city.
CBS 58 reported that Milwaukee leaders are in talks with WWE about bringing a Royal Rumble event to American Family Field, home of Major League Baseball’s Milwaukee Brewers.
The Royal Rumble will not be held in Milwaukee until 2026 when the scheduled renovations to American Family Field that will allow it to be used during the winter are completed. The Royal Rumble takes place in late January each year.
American Family Field features a retractable roofing system. The winterization project allows the venue to maintain 70-degree temperatures year-round.
The report stated that “a source, who asked to remain anonymous because they didn’t want to reveal too much about the conversation, said city representatives met with WWE officials last weekend in Philadelphia during the company’s biggest annual event, WrestleMania.” While WrestleMania may be out of Milwaukee’s reach for now, city and state officials hope to attract WWE’s second-biggest event on the calendar.
Fastlane 2017 was the most recent WWE PPV/PLE held in Milwaukee.
This year’s Royal Rumble was held at Tropicana field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
