Mick Foley cancels plan to play one final match in todays Wrestling news
Doctors suspect Foley suffered a concussion recently.
Mick Foley, the Hardcore Legend, will no longer be returning to the ring to compete in a final match.
Foley, 58, revealed earlier this year that he had considered coming out of retirement in order to celebrate his 60th birthday with one final deathmatch. Foley said that he was motivated to lose weight by the prospect of one final match.
Foley was dizzy last month, and had to cancel some personal appearances. Foley initially thought the symptoms were due to driving too much or not sleeping enough. However, after consulting doctors, it appears that Foley suffered a concussion.
Foley has said that he is no longer interested in playing another match. Foley’s “strongly” support this decision.
As many of you are aware, I missed a couple of weekends of appearances due to dizziness and lightheadedness. After consulting with a few doctors and using my own concussion experience, the symptoms seem to point towards a concussion I didn’t even know I had. I hadn’t done much in the ring but I had done some. I noticed that I felt lightheaded after a workout, but I thought it’d go away.
It seems the best move and one that is strongly supported by my parents, to cancel that final match. If I could get concussed by something I wasn’t even aware of, some of the things I was hoping to do and thinking about doing in a major match would not have been smart. After careful consideration and at the urging of my family, I have decided that there will not be a final match. Thank you for tuning in and I hope that you have a great day.
Foley had suggested Matt Cardona and Jon Moxley as possible opponents in the final match. It would not have been in WWE.
Foley last wrestled in the 2012 WWE Royal Rumble. He was inducted into WWE Hall of Fame 2013
