Michael Cole and Pat McAfee both congratulated Sting for his retirement.
During Monday’s Raw show, Cole took a moment to speak with Sting who retired after his match against AEW Revolution at the weekend.
After nearly 40 years in professional wrestling, Sting has retired. Cole said, “Thanks for the memories and congratulations to Sting.”
Sting and Darby Allin retained the AEW Tag Team Titles against The Young Bucks on Sunday in a tornado match. The titles were vacated and a new tournament to crown new champions will start this month.
After a few years with TNA Sting briefly worked with the WWE, but lost to Triple H at WrestleMania 31, in 2014. In a match with Seth Rollins, he suffered a serious neck injury after a turnbuckle-poweredbomb. In 2016, he was inducted into WWE Hall of Fame, where he announced the first of his two retirements. He remained retired until 2021, when he returned to the ring for AEW.
