Mercedes Mone is still planning to celebrate her double championship victory.
AEW announced that Mone would be holding a “double champion victory toast” this Wednesday night on Dynamite. Last week, Mone was supposed to celebrate her title on the show. However, there was an angle in which she faced off with Britt Baker.
Mone, who held the AEW-TBS Championship, became a two-time champion when she won the NJPW-Strong Women’s Championship by defeating Stephanie Vaquer during a title vs. championship match at Forbidden Doors. Baker interrupted Mone immediately after the match.
Baker explained her 10-month absence in AEW during a Dynamite promo last week. She was physically harmed with two herniated disks, a torn labrum in the hip, and mentally drained. Baker thought she was fine, until one day she felt really sick and was diagnosed with a transient ischemic stroke (a mini-stroke). Baker is now healthy, and she has challenged Mone for a match next month at All In.
Mone’s response to the All In Challenge was to dismiss Baker and tell her to move to the back of line.
Dynamite is taking place from Calgary, Alberta, Canada this Wednesday. The updated card for the episode is listed below:
- Men’s Owen Hart Foundation tournament final: Bryan Danielson vs. Hangman Page (Jeff Jarrett will be the special guest enforcer)
