Mone recently spoke with ESPN.
Mercedes Mone spoke to ESPN about her decision of signing with AEW.
Mone is thought to have signed an lucrative deal with the promotion. Our own Dave Meltzer wrote, “Those with knowledge of the offering said it was very substantial. It was obviously higher than WWE but significantly lower than the $5,000,000 per year figure that has been circulating.” One WWE star said that they heard the deal would make Mone the highest paid woman in professional wrestling.
Mone was asked if she had signed a lucrative contract with the company. She replied that “it’s always about that bag.”
“I mean, I am not Mercedes Mone by accident,” she said with an smirk. Money changes everything. I’m always thinking about that bag. Absolutely.”
Mone was not signed up with AEW at the time she attended All In in Wembley Stadium. She says that the experience she had at All In Wembley Stadium last summer influenced her decision.
Mone continued, “I’m all for creating history.” “I’m all for creating magic and so much more,” Mone continued. “AEW offers so much more – more opportunities, more chances, and more chances to just stand out and be noticed.”
Mone’s freedom to work on other projects, whether it be acting, music or wrestling for another promotion, was also a major factor.
Mone said, “You can do everything in AEW. You can do more than you think.” “And I want to do it all,” Mone said. This is where I want to be and this is my home.
Mone has talked about her injury from last year and how it was deemed career-ending. Mone told ESPN that she wouldn’t take no for an option.
Mone said, “I love to wrestle so much that I couldn’t allow the doctor to tell me that [I wouldn’t wrestle again], that’s not going happen.” “I refused to accept no as an answer. I worked hard every day. Rehab, working out, getting myself in the right frame of mind, meditating. I didn’t know when I would return. “I just knew I would come back someday.”
Mone will be appearing on this week’s AEW Dynamite, which takes place in Toronto. Mone will be featured in a promotional segment.
