Bayley and pro-wrestling legend Meiko Satomura will face off for the first ever time.
Bayley will defend her WWE Women’s Championship against Satomura at WWE’s houseshow in Tokyo on Saturday. The match was announced following their team-up in matches on the first and second nights of WWE Japan tour. Satomura made a promo in which she challenged Bayley to a title match.
Bayley tweeted it would be an honor for her to compete against Satomura.
Bayley wrote: “Tomorrow will be a great honor.” “Feel like I’m having Wrestlemania 1 week before Summerslam.”
SummerSlam is set to feature a WWE Women’s Championship Match with Bayley defending her title against Nia Jax on Saturday, August 3.
The first two events on the house show tour were held in Osaka and Tokyo. WWE’s first shows in Japan are since 2019. The tour concludes on Saturday with a live event at Sumo Hall.
Bayley, Satomura & Bianca Belair defeated IYO SKY & Kairi Sane & Dakota Kai & Tiffany Stratton in the Thursday and Friday events.
Tokyo Sports reported last week that Satomura had decided to retire from the ring and her final match is likely to be in spring 2025. Satomura will celebrate her 30th anniversary of her pro wrestling debut in April 2019. She is currently under contract with WWE and runs the Sendai Girls Promotion in Japan.
Satomura was a former NXT UK Women’s champion. She signed with WWE as a NXT UK wrestler and coach in 2021.
