Matt Riddle claims he’s in a “way different place” after nearly a year of his WWE release.
Riddle was fired by the company on September 20, 2023. Since then, he has wrestled for NJPW MLW AAA, The Crash REVOLVER and other promotions.
Riddle was recently interviewed by the New York Post and stated that his personal life had deteriorated while he was in WWE.
Riddle said, “Even though I made great money, I had a deteriorating family life, I got divorcée and other things, and on top of that, just being able see the kids and then just taking care responsibilities,” Riddle explained. “When I was flying to a new city or driving every day, and wrestling and learning promos and doing all these other things, many other things fell by the wayside.”
In an interview with MuscleManMalcolm, Riddle stated that he still talks with Randy Orton often. He says Orton asked him if he was interested in returning to WWE, but Riddle said that it wasn’t the right time.
Riddle continued, “I feel a lot better. “I feel much better. It’s hard for me to explain, because most people assume that you’re in a great place. My life was a mess. You lose your family. You’re trying to rebuild everything and you don’t even have time.
Riddle also addressed his public comments that he was able to beat Roman Reigns, similar in nature to the previous comments he had made about Goldberg.
Riddle said, “This isn’t a flex. This is the truth.” “If I didn’t believe I could, I wouldn’t say it. You won’t hear me say I can beat Bobby Lashley. Maybe on a good morning. Or Brock Lesnar on a good morning.”
Riddle claims that he and Roman Reigns have a good relationship.
“I think he saw my professionalism in the ring, and I explained why I said things and I wasn’t trying to call you out,” continued he. “I know where I belong in WWE, but when someone tells to me to cut a promotional on you, then I will do it. I think he got it. He was not happy, but he understood. “Me and Roman, we are good.”
Riddle will face Matthew Justice in a match at MLW Summer of the Beasts on Thursday, which will take place in New York’s Melrose Ballroom.
