Matt Hardy, a free agent, has spoken with both AEW & WWE in todays Wrestling news
Hardy’s latest podcast episode discusses the free-agent process.
Matt Hardy enjoys his time as a freelance agent.
Earlier this month it was confirmed Hardy had entered free agency after his AEW contract expired. Hardy, who received a new AEW contract, said he is still interacting with his promotion and has not ruled out a return.
Hardy discussed the free-agent process in the latest episode of the Extreme Life of Matt Hardy Podcast (Patreon Early Release), noting that it’s a great experience and he isn’t rushing to sign anywhere.
It’s amazing. I’m enjoying it. This might spoil me just a little. You know, I’m not in a rush to sign anything just to become an official employee. I love what I do. I signed a few books in the last couple of weeks. WrestleCon for me and Jeff was incredible, and I’m sure most people already know that. It was crazy. Last week, I attended Astronomicon in Detroit. I spent Saturday and Sunday in Detroit. It was also crazy. Thank you to all who attended Astronomicon. Both days were great, but Saturday was the best. It was great to meet so many Hardy fans.
Yeah, I’m really enjoying it. It’s nice to be home and not have the stress of having to go to the airport or catch an early flight. You’ll see from my Matt Fact that I’m not in a hurry to leave the Hardy Compound.
Hardy, when asked about the teases he has been making on social media that hint at a WWE comeback, said that he is a free agent and he is trying to create buzz around himself. Hardy said that he has been in contact with both AEW, and WWE.
In full disclosure, what I am doing is what I should do as a free-agent — creating buzz around myself. Yes, I’ve been in constant contact with AEW. I’ve been talking to WWE. I’ve spoken with a number of people on different platforms. I think that the next two weeks will be fun. The next few weeks will be fun. As I’ve said before, we’re about to do some pretty cool things.
So yeah, I’m doing what I should. My job as a “brand” is to promote myself and create buzz around me. I have to see myself as a “brand.” A lot of my social networking stuff is called the Matt Hardy Brand. My job as a “brand” is to create buzz and promote myself. I feel that I do a good job at it when I can freelance and do whatever.
Hardy says that he has enjoyed the freedom of being a free agent. However, this has not stopped him from signing a deal. He plans to choose a team and sign somewhere.
Hardy made his debut for AEW 2020. Jeff Hardy, Hardy’s brother, joined the company in 2022.
