Jeff Hardy’s AEW Contract could expire soon.
Matt Hardy updated his brother’s AEW situation in the latest episode of his Extreme Life of Matt Hardy Podcast. Matt Hardy said that he believes Jeff Hardy’s contract will expire “mid-June” or so. Jeff, 46, hasn’t wrestled in AEW since February. He is cleared to wrestle again and is just waiting for a call.
“I mean, I think he has been cleared. Matt said, “He’s just waiting at home for the call.” “Unlike me he doesn’t really get out and make things happen — he kind of waits for someone to call him. He’s at home, waiting for that phone call and jumping up and down on the trampoline with dumbbells. But, yes, I believe he has until about mid-June. Then his contract is up. I guess we’ll have to wait and see if he decides to resign or not. Who knows?”
Jeff has been out since he broke his nose in the episode of AEW Rampage on February 16, when he faced Sammy Guevara. Jeff had sinus surgery following that injury.
Matt said that while Jeff is a laid-back guy who enjoys spending time with his family at home, it’s important for Jeff to finish his career on a positive note.
Matt said, “He’s happy to be back home.” “But I know it’s also important to him, to finish his career and our run on a positive note. I know he wants to. It will be interesting to see how things turn out.
Matt became a Free Agent in April after his AEW contract expired. He stated that he continued to speak with both WWE as well as AEW even after entering free agent.
Matt returned to TNA Wrestling in the last month, but hasn’t signed a contract. Matt has returned to his “Broken’ persona in TNA. He’ll face Moose at Against All Odds for the TNA World Championship on June 14.
Matt was not happy with the way he had been used in AEW during his last 11 months. Matt said in his podcast that he hoped to be part of a solid storyline, where he would be able to contribute every week. He is very happy with his TNA run and wants to prove himself against Moose.
