Cardona wrestled Adam Copeland as the show’s first match
Matt Cardona surprised viewers with a surprise appearance in Collision.
Adam Copeland, on Saturday’s episode of the show, resumed his Cope Open and issued an open challenge to Cardona. Cardona accepted. Cardona was almost knocked down when he dodged the spear at one point and hit the radio silent. Cardona went for a spear at the end of the match, but Copeland hit his own spear to win.
Malakai Black met Copeland after the match. Buddy Matthews attacked him from behind. Eddie Kingston and Mark Briscoe both came to the rescue.
Copeland defeated Christian Cage during an I Quit match in Toronto on the 20th edition of AEW Dynamite. Copeland started the Cope Open Challenge in order to try and win Cage’s title, which he briefly won at Worlds End, in December, before losing it to Cage in a impromptu bout.
Cardona is a free agent who wrestles for GCW. He appeared in AEW in 2020 as a partner in a tag-team for Cody Rhodes, against The Dark Order.
