Maryse undergoes total hysterectomy following a’very rare pre-cancer’ diagnosis in todays Wrestling news
Maryse has opened up about the rare health condition that she’s been fighting.
Maryse (Maryse mizanin) spoke out about a rare condition she is battling on Saturday.
Maryse revealed she will be undergoing a complete hysterectomy within four weeks, after 11 implants were removed that were found by doctors to be Serious Borderline Tumors. Maryse’s uterus, fallopian tube, cervix and omentum will be removed. Her abdominal lymphnodes will be removed to determine the extent and stage of the problem.
Maryse said that she has been suffering from severe abdominal distention for the last year. She was experiencing gastrointestinal problems, extreme fatigue and didn’t feel like herself. The symptoms would flare up but continued to worsen until they became chronic. No one could determine what was wrong despite seeing several doctors and undergoing various tests. Maryse claims that she was told by doctors to let the problem go and that it would resolve itself over time.
Maryse did not give up. She thanked her doctor Thais Alabadi for saving her life and listening to her. Maryse had surgery a week ago for what was suspected as endometriosis. Eleven implants were discovered and removed. After testing, it was determined that they were Serious Borderline tumors, a very rare pre-cancer in the ovaries.
Maryse wrote, “Very sneaky & aggressive.” “If they became cancerous, the survival rate would be less than one year.”
Maryse says that she is determined to overcome this and will remain positive. You can read her full statement posted on Instagram below.
Not all super heroes are cape-wearing
Here’s one superhero I would like to recognize. She is Thais Aliabadi from Los Angeles, Oby-Gyn. She saved my life.
I am so grateful to have crossed paths with this brilliant, uber-talented, patient, attentive, and genuinely caring lady!
Background: I was suffering from severe abdominal swelling and distention, to the point that I looked like I was 6 months pregnant. I had a lot of GI problems, including sibo. I was on multiple antibiotics and felt extremely fatigued. My symptoms were in flare-ups for the past year and they became chronic.
I saw many doctors, but none could diagnose my condition. No one could tell what was wrong. I went down an incredibly long list of testing, from colonoscopy/endoscopy/pill cam endoscopy, mri’s, ultrasounds, ct scans, blood tests just to name a few and often would be told that its probably hormonal and or just something by body is allergic too. I had my entire home tested for mold. I was told that it would sort itself out over time. It’s because I am too impatient to wait and that I’m driving myself crazy! I’m not going to give up on this!
She listened to me, really listened, from the moment I met her in her office in LA. She listened to me (a doctor-like quality that makes all the difference) and agreed we had to push to find out what was going on. She always said, “No one knows you better than you.” So she suggested we go in and check it out. I was ready.
I had surgery with Dr. Thais a week ago. She performed a Laparoscopy for what we believed at the time to be Endometriosis.
She removed 11 implants from my uterus, my ovaries and all the connective tissue around my organs in my abdominal cavity. These were sent to pathology to be tested.
Three days later… The labs returned. No endometriosis.
All 11 implants were diagnosed as Serous Borderline Tumors. A very rare precancer of the ovaries. Very sneaky and aggressive. If they become cancerous, the survival rate drops to less than one year.
What happens next? In 4 weeks, I will be scheduled for a total hysterectomy. I will have my uterus, fallopian tube, cervix and omentum removed, as well as abdominal lymph nodes for staging.
I’m determined to win this battle. There is only one choice, and that’s to win this battle. I’m a mom to two young girls.
Let’s shed some light on a major issue in women’s healthcare. Women are conditioned to think that it is normal to suffer in silence, and this is what they do. You are told to stop crying. It must be hormonal imbalances or anxiety. This is not normal. This cycle must be broken! If you are dismissed by your doctor, you should see another one until you receive the help you require! Advocacy is key. Keep pushing and advocating for yourself! Follow your instincts. Never ever underestimate your gut feelings!
Thank you @drthaisaliabadi for her amazing team. You guys are truly making a difference to so many women. !
Thank you, Dad, for protecting me with an angel.
Maryse’s last match was in January 2022 when she teamed up with her husband The Miz, Mike Mizanin, against Edge & Beth Phoenix during that year’s Royal Rumble. Maryse and Miz were married in 2014 and share two daughters.
