Marko Stunt, who was part of Jurassic Express during the early days of AEW and answered TNT Champion Jack Perry’s open challenge on Saturday’s AEW collision, surprised everyone by returning to the company.
Stunt is a Mississippi native, and a hometown favorite. He hasn’t appeared in an AEW ring for the first time since September 2021. Stunt wrestled in the Landers Center, Southaven, for AEW before. He headlined a trios match against Orange Cassidy & Best Friends in the one-year anniversary show of Dynamite.
AEW decided not to renew his contracts in March 2022 because of budget cuts and the size of their roster. He called a comment made about him on Dynamite just over a month later “kind of lame.”
Perry was the dominant wrestler for most of the match. He lawn darted the smaller Stunt to the middle turnbuckle at one point. Stunt had his moments and showed no ring rust, despite not wrestling for 18 months. Perry won the match after a running leg.
The 28-year old’s last match before Saturday was a loss in GCW in January 2023. In February 2023 he claimed to have suffered a fractured vertebrae and a rotated vertebrae, which doctors were trying help him determine.
Perry was making his first title defense after winning the title in a ladder bout at AEW x NJPW Forbidden Door last Sunday.
