Mariah May’s performance on Wednesday’s AEW dynamite was newsworthy, as she won the women’s Owen Hart Foundation Tournament and then violently attacked her friend and future rival Toni Storm.
May defeated Willow Nightingale to win the title shot and the trophy at the August’s All In event at London’s Wembley Stadium. May won the match after countering a carry by a fireman into a pin try.
The competitive match was not without controversy. A sweatshirt-clad Stokely hathaway attempted to attack Nightingale, which led to Kris Statlander almost knocking her out with one kick. Nightingale kicked a running knee attack to rally, but fell in defeat.
May and Storm celebrated together and ran up to the stage to pose with the Cup. May grabbed the belt and started slapping Storm. She then whipped Storm and Luther repeatedly, before throwing Luther through a stage table.
She then took Storm’s infamous boot and repeatedly hit her in the head with it, increasing the amount of blood that was pouring out. She then pushed referee Aubrey Edwards as she tried to break up the fight before kissing Storm’s bloody head, posing and ending the show.
The 25-year old began her AEW run back in January. She began an angle with Storm, whom she said she idolized. This eventually morphed Storm’s “Timeless” current character.
