Logan Paul will be the next to take on Cody Rhodes.
The opening segment of Friday’s SmackDown began with the announcement that Paul would challenge Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship on Saturday, 25th May at King & Queen of the Ring. Paul’s United States championship was also mentioned, but this has not yet been confirmed.
After dethroning Roman Reigns at WrestleMania, Rhodes made his first title defense at Backlash last weekend, defeating AJ Styles. Nick Aldis introduced Paul as Rhodes’ next opponent on SmackDown, which was hosted by Nick Aldis.
Paul said that he is the one who has fuelled the success of WWE’s new era and not Rhodes. He vowed that he would knock Rhodes out of the ring at King & Queen of the Ring, and leave Saudi Arabia as the Undisputed WWE champion.
Rhodes praised Paul’s wrestling skills, but also called him disrespectful, self centered, and delusional. He said Paul couldn’t win a single match.
“You are taking credit for things that don’t belong you, or to me,” Rhodes said. “This is a team.” You will find out your place in the team at the Queen and King of the Ring in Saudi Arabia.
Rhodes said that if he won the United States title off Paul, he would be a Grand Slam winner. The segment ended when Rhodes and Paul posed with their respective belts.
Next Friday, a contract signing for Rhodes and Paul will be held on SmackDown.
