Logan Paul reacts to Prime’s WWE ring sponsoring backlash in todays Wrestling news
WWE PLEs will feature a prime branding in the middle of the ring.
WWE announced an historic sponsorship deal on SmackDown, last Friday.
Prime Hydration, founded in 2022 by Logan Paul and KSI, has announced a partnership with WWE. This is the largest sponsorship in WWE history. The Prime logo will appear on the center of WWE premium live events, starting with WrestleMania.
It is the first time WWE has sold advertising space in the middle of the ring. Paul and KSI announced the deal at SmackDown this past week. The announcement drew online criticism from fans. Memes of the Prime bottle logo ruining WWE classic moments were created.
Paul responded to the backlash in the latest episode of the Impaulsive Podcast. Paul acknowledged the criticism, but stated that TKO Group Holdings, WWE’s parent, would sell that ad-space, whether it be Prime or another company.
Paul said that the announcement was the coolest moment he and KSI had ever experienced:
You know, it was one of the coolest moments in our lives. Major milestone, major achievement for our company and brand. It’s interesting to get that center ring position. It’s getting…it is more positive reviews but I think diehard wrestling fans like — they are really upset, man.
Vince [McMahon] has never done it. He was always very protective of the mat, and he didn’t put any branding on it. In this new era – and it’s a new era no matter what you call it – TKO is now a publicly traded corporation, so they had to meet a bottomline. This spot was going be sold. We saw an opening, and a potential opportunity to make people even more hate me, because I’m a heel. That’s the angle I took. I was like ‘F*ck you all.’ I’m going stamp everything with me, so you remember what my goal is: to takeover in this company.
Paul believes that the fans will eventually get used to this advertisement.
If we don’t have this spot for ever, who knows what could happen, someone else will take it. If you’re a WWE fanatic, you won’t remember it. It will become a standard practice, and I don’t believe it’s as distracting as you think.
Paul laughed at the memes that people have created, saying that he finds them incredible.
Paul has been in a feud with Kevin Owens and Randy Orton in WWE ahead of WrestleMania. Paul currently holds United States title.
Prime has now signed sponsorship agreements with both WWE as well as UFC. Prime became a UFC Sponsor in January 2023.
