Liv Morgan’s WWE career has advanced after she took time off to recover from an injury.
The current Women’s World Champion appeared on The Pat McAfee Show on Wednesday to promote the Royal Rumble ticket sale. Morgan talked about finding her confidence and developing a championship mindset during the interview. Morgan cited the shoulder injury that she suffered in 2023, as a turning-point where the time away did wonders for mental health.
“I feel that my entire career, until after my injury, — I didn’t come out of entertainment, I don’t have a wrestler family, I’m not a Division-one athlete. I had almost imposter syndrome a long time. I didn’t feel like I earned or deserved to be in this position, but I loved the experience. Since I was five, I’ve been a WWE fan. It’s what I’ve always wanted to do. “But I think I struggled a long time feeling like I didn’t fit in,” she said.
“It wasn’t until my injury left me with time to myself that I was able to really sit down and talk with myself for the very first time in my life. I’ve been working with WWE since the age of 20. It was a great thing to have no schedule, and to be able to sit down with myself. I felt like it improved my mental health and my confidence. When I returned, I felt completely different. “I just knew I was ready.”
Morgan, 30, returned to action in the beginning of this year. She has been the Women’s World Champion ever since May.
Morgan is still locked in a long-term rivalry with Rhea Ripley, despite IYO SKY being the number one contender for her title. Morgan has been portrayed as a heel, luring Dominik Ripley away from Ripley.
