The former Brian Pillman Jr. made his debut for the promotion in October.

Lexis King claims he was plagued by self-doubt throughout his AEW campaign.

In a recent interview with Chris Van Vliet, the former Brian PIllman Jr. opened up about his newfound confidence after joining WWE.

King said:

Am I worth it? I spent months of my previous career second-guessing me. Am I worth it? Lots of self-doubt. I was sitting in the back of the room filming dark matches in Orlando. Tag matches lasted six minutes. I barely got in the ring.

Now I am sitting on a throne and I’m about to make my debut in the largest wrestling company in the entire world. They have this kind of confidence in me, and it fuels me. I now have confidence myself.

When asked about signing up with WWE last year King replied that it was a ‘necessary transfer’ after it became clear AEW would not be using him any further.

King continued:

It wasn’t a decision so much as a necessary transition. I think I did well at AEW. It was a great experience, both financially and personally. Like I said, it was just that kind of self-doubt, that I didn’t know what the future held, that I didn’t know if I would be used or if i’d do anything. It was pretty obvious when they didn’t sign me again that I wouldn’t be doing anything at the company anymore.

So God bless the agents and attorneys who picked up the telephone that day. My contract was about to expire and they started the conversation. I believe I received a check from both companies within the same month. This is how quickly things got going.

Pillman was used sparingly by AEW in the months before his contract expired last July. He wrestled on Dark and Dark: Elevation episodes frequently, but he hadn’t wrestled a AEW match since losing to Swerve Strickland in the February 1, 2023 edition of Rampage.
