Ibushi announced in two posts on X Friday that he will be undergoing surgery after a pre-existing injury to his ankle was aggravated at NOAH’s The New Year on January 2.
Kota Ibushi’s post:
Sorry for the late response. I’m sure that Mr. NOAH can give you more information, but I wanted to let you know that the inside of my ankle was quite a mess. I decided to have surgery to the right ligament. I think a release will be coming soon. I’m so sorry.
I came here to be able to do this for 20 years. I think it’s time for me to get active. There are still many things to do on my contract but I want them completed! I don’t like to think about the future or talk about it too much, but I need to take care my mother and do other things. I will talk about it later! Don’t miss a single game
Ibushi’s ankles were injured during his main event fight against Naomichi Marufuji. He attempted a moonsault. Ibushi had been reported to have a broken ankle before the show. Ibushi was rushed to hospital for treatment after the New Year after struggling to stand and walk.
