Omega spoke to B/R before Saturday’s AEW full gear.
Kenny Omega says that the AEW of today is different than what it was during its first year.
Omega spoke to B/R about the locker room in 2019 and how it has changed.
Omega said that AEW’s first-year roster had a locker and a team full of go-getters. “Every week brought something new and exciting. We were trying to find our feet. We have a larger roster and have covered a lot of bases.”
“Is the situation different today than it was at the beginning?” “Absolutely, it’s changed,” he continued. “Do I feel like I have an identity in this company?” It’s still AEW. Since 2019, every year has been different. “I didn’t realize it until you asked how different the first year was from years two and three.”
“It’s about making fans happy.” If you strip away everything from the original statement, it really was all about making fans happier. “At the end of it all, if fans are happy with our product, if networks are happy, and if everyone who consumes our products is happy, then I am happy too.”
The Young Bucks and Omega will be facing off against each other at AEW’s Full Gear on Saturday. Omega lost the AEW world championship to Hangman Page at Full Gear 2021. He then took nine months to heal nagging injuries.
Omega is in good health but he does get older and some days he wonders if he can do anything physically.
Omega said, “I’m at an age where I feel great but then I will spontaneously slip and fell on a banana skin and the next thing you’ll know I have a broken hip.” “I’m getting brittle.”
“You may feel great one day, but the next you’re like, ‘Wow! I don’t think I can do any physical activity.’ You just take it day by day and try to be as committed as you can to injury management and injury prevention.
