Kenny Omega’s return to AEW will likely lead to a Golden Lovers reunion.
Kota Ibushi, as well as Omega, have both been sidelined due to injuries. Ibushi had ankle surgery in January, while Omega underwent surgery in May after a bout of diverticulitis. Omega hasn’t wrestled since December 20,23.
Ibushi, in celebration of his 20th anniversary as a pro wrestler, took part in a 5-minute exhibition for GLEAT. He will compete in a six man tag match for DDT Pro Wrestling’s August 25. Ibushi, who is returning to DDT Pro Wrestling, tweeted that AEW was his home and fans would see a “full return” with him and Omega.
Meltzer said, “Ibushi will return when Kenny Omega comes back.” “He basically said that he was under contract there, and he is waiting for Omega to come back for him to return,” Meltzer said. I don’t even know if Omega will return. It’s not as far away as it used to be when I would think and say, “I don’t want to even think about it.” It’s still a long way off. I know he’s improving.
“I looked up the procedure that he underwent. It usually takes a wrestler four months to recover. Many wrestlers push themselves and come back sooner. That would be around mid-September. He had many problems — he wasn’t just suffering from a hernia. He had many different problems. He is returning, as I said. That’s the general idea. I don’t believe it’s months away. I don’t say this because it makes me feel stupid — he hasn’t told me anything about this — but I just have a feeling that it will be before the end the year. Before that, he was just saying he would be back but didn’t know when.
When Omega returns, he is expected to continue his feud against The Elite. This includes a teased match with legendary in-ring competitor Kazuchika Okada.
