Kenny Omega gives a health update. He recently underwent an ’emergency’ treatment. in todays Wrestling news
Omega spoke about his well-being on a Twitch channel Thursday.
AEW’s Kenny Omega revealed on Thursday, his Twitch channel, that he had recently undergone “emergency treatments” while providing fans with a medical update.
Omega has been out of action since December due to a bout with diverticulitis. Omega, in a Twitch broadcast with Alex Jebailey Thursday, said that his recovery had been “two steps ahead… maybe one-and-a-half steps back,” noting he recently received an emergency treatment. Omega said:
It’s been a real roller coaster ride. I felt great for, I would say, a week or so. For two weeks, I was feeling great. Then, I hit a little roadblock and had to go back for emergency treatment.
Omega said he was unsure if he would need surgery to treat his diverticulitis and that he could not give a timeline for his return to the ring.
Because I know how I feel, and because I’ve been through a lot in terms of injuries, getting knocked up, and all that, now I kind of know when I can return. This is the first sickness I’ve had. It’s hard to tell what’s happening on the inside if you feel some pain but don’t understand what’s really going on.
I’d like to say: “Hey guys, it looks like I’ll be back next week, or next month, maybe even in a half-year.” I don’t feel that confident this time.
It’s like a revelation to me when they tell me that I could die in 24 hours if I didn’t get a blood infection. I’ve never heard anything like that. I thought it would be like, just shrugging off. I was almost dead? Are you kidding me? No way.
The doctors are there for my safety and to educate me about the importance of this stuff.
I don’t like to talk too much about my future plans. I just say, “Yeah for sure, I will be back. I’ll be returning at a specific time or date because I don’t know.”
Omega continued to say that he has no timetable for his comeback but he feels a responsibility to return in the ring.
But I will admit that after watching Dynamite the past week, I am getting a feel for the place. I feel compelled to return if I can. There are just too many… I may never have an environment like that. I don’t think I would call it fun, but more of a duty. I have a responsibility to compete with these guys who call themselves the best because I used be that guy. I used to be confident. Now, instead of being the guy with the chip on his shoulders, it’s now my job to be that old guard as a gatekeeper. You want to be called the best? Prove it, you bitch. This is why I’m here, or this is what I will return for.
Omega said that a comeback would have to meet the high standards set by him:
It doesn’t matter if it’s on a pay-per-view, Dynamite, Raw, SmackDown, NXT or anyone else. It makes me want to get in that ring condition again. I’m trying to find a balance between the pain and sickness, while also training and making sure that things don’t get out of control. I want to be ready to jump back in if I suddenly get healed. I don’t think I want to be below the bar. I’m going to do my best.
