Kazuchika Okada vacates NEVER Openweight Six-Man tag title in todays Wrestling news
On Wednesday, Okada wrestled in his final match at Korakuen Hall.
Kazuchika Okada no longer belongs to the NEVER Openweight Six-Man Tag Team Champions.
Tomohiro Ishii defeated Mikey Nicholls and Shane Haste on Wednesday to retain their titles in Korakuen Hall. Okada pinned Fujita with a Rainmaker after his final match at the historic venue, before leaving NJPW.
Okada then made a promo following the match, announcing that he was vacating his belt. (Translation via NJPWGlobal X)
I don’t want a cry. I’ve already cried enough. But thank you for your support over the past 17 years.
Ishii gave me this belt, but I’m removing it today. This is the only team-belt I’ve held in my career, and I’m grateful to Tanahashi & Ishii. This is my last match under my contract, but I still have three matches left in Osaka or Sapporo. This isn’t the end. It isn’t goodbye. You still have the main show. Enjoy it.”

It is not immediately apparent what this means for Ishii & Tanahashi as champions.
Okada will wrestle Tanahashi on Sunday, 11th February at New Beginning Osaka. He is also scheduled for the New Beginning Sapporo shows, on Friday, and Saturday, February 23 and 24, despite the fact that his NJPW deal expires at the end this month.
This week, TNA Wrestling will air Okada’s return. This week’s AXS TV show will feature his match with the Motor City Machine Guns and The System from TNA Snake Eyes.
