AS reports that Kazuchika Okada “seriously entertains” the idea of signing for a promotion other NJPW. The current contract of Okada expires at end of January.

Okada wrestled at AEW’s Philadelphia show on October 25. Justin Barrasso says that this was done not only to advance his storyline with Bryan Danielson, but also to “acquire a greater sense of AEW.”

The pitch is he’s 36, he’s very close to Nakamura, and Nakamura worked in WWE for years and it’s much easier on his body.”

One source said that Shinsuke Nakamura’s more prominent role on television is due in part to WWE wanting Okada to see the current regime as more respectful of Japanese wrestlers.

“The idea is WWE is the only thing Okada never did and he has done everything he could do in New Japan,”

Okada will return to the United States to compete in NJPW Battle in The Valley on Saturday, 13 January in San Jose.
