Karl Anderson claims he texted Triple H asking him to bring Tama Tongas to WWE in todays Wrestling news
Anderson appeared on the Busted Open Radio episode for Tuesday.
Karl Anderson recently talked about his role in bringing Tama Tongas to WWE.
Anderson told Busted Open Radio that he texted Triple H shortly after WrestleKingdom 17 to inform him that Tonga’s contract with NJPW would soon expire.
Anderson said:
After my Tokyo Dome Match in 2023 which Triple H allowed me to do because we signed with WWE again and I was still the champion in New Japan. He still allowed me to do two more dates for New Japan Pro Wrestling without any issues. I remember texting Triple H to tell him that Tama’s contract was coming up. I think Tama would be a complete can’t miss if you ask my opinion. He replied immediately. It took me a year to finish it, but I believe that everything happens for a good reason.
Tonga defeated Anderson to win the NEVER Openweight championship at Wrestle Kingdom 17, Anderson’s last match in NJPW. Tonga’s last NJPW match was held at The New Beginning, Sapporo, on February 24, 2024. He has been with the company for over a decade.
Anderson continued by saying:
I think it’s fantastic that Tama has spent 15 or 16 years in New Japan Pro Wrestling. He can now come to WWE and show that he’s ready for primetime. Tama Tonga’s potential in the WWE is limitless. I’m excited to see.
Tonga made a WWE debut on the Friday episode of SmackDown, and helped Solo Sikoa to attack Jimmy Uso. Anderson claims WWE did not tell Tonga that he would debut on Friday night.
He also had no idea he would debut that night, kind of like WWE. You’ll be brought in, and then you have to debut.
It was fun to watch my brother and friend go through the process of realizing that this is his first ever live national television appearance. I’m very proud of him. I think he did a great job.
