Judge officially pauses Vince McMahon/Janel grant lawsuit in todays Wrestling news
The judge has officially halted the Janel Grant/Vince McMahon/WWE case.
Judge Jeffery Meyer officially paused Grant’s lawsuit on Tuesday against Vince McMahon and John Laurinaitis of WWE. Both sides agreed to pause it per a request by the Department of Justice while they continue their federal investigation into McMahon. The case will be paused for the next six month, meaning that the lawsuit won’t resume at the earliest until December 11.
A spokesperson for McMahon told Wrestlenomics that they were not opposed to the suspension of the lawsuit.
Mr. McMahon wants to prove that Ms. Grant is lying and expose her lies. However, he did not object to government’s request for a pause in the matter as it relates to the investigation into disclosures at WWE. After the six-month pause, his legal team will be able to depose Ms. Grant, and other witnesses, and the evidence will show that the relationship was consensual. Ms. Grant’s allegations, however, are malicious fabrications by a jilted love.
The defendant’s request to compel arbitration, as well as Grant’s request to strike comments from McMahons filings, have been denied. They were however denied “without prejudice”, meaning that the motions may be renewed within two weeks of the case resuming.
Grant agreed on May 30 to delay the lawsuit, at the request of the Justice Department. She filed the suit in January, accusing McMahon of sexual assault and Laurinaitis for trafficking. Both have denied this.
