Jon Moxley made a surprise return on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite, calling out Darby Alin and later siding with Marina Shafir.
Moxley, with a new shaved-head, and more brooding that usual, stalked through the crowd, to new music, to the ring. Tony Schiavone went to the former AEW World Champion for a few brief words.
Moxley said that he has been thinking a lot about the things that he needs to do and wanted to talk to someone who wasn’t there, someone who was both nothing like him and exactly like him: Allin. He concluded by saying that it was about time we had a chat and, trust me, you can find me.
As Schiavone ran down the show, Moxley returned and said that it will take time for people to understand, but this is no longer your company, leaving the announcer confused. Moxley then left through the crowd.
Moxley was shown in the back of the studio, where he started a fight with the security guards. Shafir then joined the fight. Moxley said that they need to learn more humility around here before he and Shafir left.
Moxley and Allin both teamed up with each other, and fought against each other, during their tenures at AEW. Moxley and Allin last faced off on a July 20, 2020 Dynamite, when Moxley defended the then-World title he held against Allin. Moxley won their only other AEW match, which was also on a Dynamite in November 2019.
Moxley last appearance was a loss against Tetsuya Nairo at the Forbidden Door, in which Moxley lost the IWGP World Title.
Why Moxley was absent for nearly two-months was never revealed.
