John Cena answered press questions about his retirement during the WWE Money in the Bank event.
Cena announced his retirement from WWE on the pay-per view, but it is still a while away. He clarified that his retirement tour does not end at WrestleMania next year.
“It won’t end at WrestleMania.” This WrestleMania is my last WrestleMania, but if all goes according to plan we can go straight from January to December,” Cena stated.
“We’re trying to make a long list.” I think it’s tentatively hovering between mid-30s and 40s because I’m still trying to juggle all the things that are going on. “And that will be the final of my in-ring contest.”
Cena said he would stay involved with WWE even after he retired from in-ring competition.
“Part of the business plan I proposed and they accepted, was that I remain in the WWE family for a long time in some capacity. I’ve always told the audience that WWE was my home and that I loved it. “Just because I feel physically at my end doesn’t mean that I need to distance myself.
“I think I have some valuable wisdom here.” I look forward to finishing my participation in ring the best way possible and being a part of the extended WWE Family for quite a while to come.
Cena replied:
“I think that this is the best thing to do. “We should organize a series of events around the world so that we can all come together one last time to go crazy, have a good time, and scream our hearts out.”
“I’m done. This is it. “But the reason I say that is not because it’s over, I’m finished, I just wanted to send a message to our fans to let them know that if they ever wanted to be part of this last time, we are going to make it as big as possible and we’re inviting everyone and we hope that you come and enjoy the show.”
“If he is going to do 30-40 matches, he won’t be acting all year.” He can do acting for two, three, or more months. But it would seem that he won’t be spending 12 months in 2025 acting if he is going to do all these different shows, Meltzer said.
“If he wants to go on the dates that he says he will, he has to cut back his acting to some degree,” he said.
John Cena’s press conference notes:
Cena was questioned about possible opponents for his tour of retirement. Cena responded that he wasn’t in a position where he could choose his opponents.
“I have never and will not put much weight on expectations that are out of my control. I’ve tried to live a life where I control what I can, and I’m not in a position to pick opponents. I’ve always enjoyed challenging myself and telling stories with the cards I was dealt.”
Cena was confident that fans would be able to see through his possible heeling during his retirement tour.
Cena replied, “I don’t really know what impact it would have.” “That is against everything I believe in. I think you’d see through it. “Our fans have a great ‘bullshit meter.
John Pollock, of Post Wrestling, asked Cena about the allegations and lawsuit filed against former WWE Executive Chairman Vince McMahon.
Cena replied, “That’s a very uncomfortable question.” “I’d much rather talk about the future. This is very important. I’ve answered that question honestly. “I know you can find it somewhere if you haven’t seen it.”
“I think that if you are determined enough to find the information you need, you will. I appreciate your courage. Thank you.
