John Klinger, “Bad Bones”, has died.

The former three-time wXw World Champion had 40 years of age. WXW announced his death on Monday.

Translation of wXw’s post on X:

“We say goodbye “Bad Bones’ John Klinger. John Klinger was a defining wrestler at wXw over a period of ten years. He won all the major titles in wXw, including 16 Carat Gold as well as Shortcut to the top. In his nearly 450 matches, he worked hard to thrill his fans. John died at 40, far too young, just before his planned retirement. We wish his friends and family strength during this difficult time.”

Will Ospreay also commented on Klinger’s death, writing “RIP “Bad Bones John Klinger Always A Pleasure.”

The cause of death is still unknown.

Klinger made his debut in wXw 2005 and has since become one of Germany’s biggest stars. His three reigns as wXw World champion are tied with Gunther Simmons and Jurn.

Klinger wrestled under the name Bad Bones at TNA TV tapes in 2009 and 2014, as well as 2016, 2017 and 2018. Josh Barnett defeated him in his last match, taped at Universal Studios on January 17, 2017. Klinger also challenged Nick Aldis in London for the Global Force Wrestling Amped tape in 2016.
