Today, on WWE Speed, a new competition began to determine the next challenger to Andrade.
Joaquin Wilde defeated NXT tag team champion Axiom in order to secure his place in the next round. Wilde pinned Axiom with a 450-degree splash from the top of the rope just as the time limit for the match was about to expire. Wilde will be facing either Pete Dunne, or Julius Creed in the second round.
Next week (7 August), WWE Speed will air the Dunne vs. Creed bout. The show debuts on X/Twitter each Wednesday at noon Eastern Time.
The other matches in the first round of the eight-man tourney will be played on WWE Speed during the next few weeks.
The winner of the tournament will be the third wrestler who challenges Andrade for the WWE Speed Championship. He defeated Ricochet in June and has successfully defended his title against Xavier Woods, Baron Corbin and others.
Wilde is part of the LWO, and is a tag team partner with Cruz Del Toro. The LWO are part of the WWE Raw roster.
