Jinder Mahal’s reaction to Tony Khan’s tweet: I appreciate the competition in todays Wrestling news
Mahal addresses the social media controversy of last month.
Last month, AEW’s Tony Khan caused a social-media controversy with a Tweet mentioning WWE wrestler Jinder Mahal.
Khan claimed that there was a double standard in the way people on X/Twitter reacted when Hook and Mahal got their respective World title shots. He wrote:
A double standard:
[Hook] 28-1 record career, on winning streak, calls out the Champ. A logical challenge sparks outrage online
Jinder has lost every match he’s played in the last year. He gets the title shot immediately. Where is the rage?
Seth Rollins defended his World Heavyweight Championship in a match against Mahal during the WWE Raw 15th January edition. Two weeks earlier, Mahal had appeared in a promo with The Rock during Raw’s Day 1 show.
Mahal was asked to give his honest opinion on Khan’s tweet in an interview with Gorilla Position.
Tony Khan is probably forgetting that I am the Modern Day Maharaja and former WWE Champion. Being a former WWE Champion I should be the number one contender whenever I want. The Royal Rumble was held a week later, and you’ll notice that I didn’t participate because I didn’t feel like there was a reason to. If the Modern Day Maharaja is looking for a title match he can get it. But it’s okay. Overall, it’s great. It created a lot buzz. I love everything. I love the competition, because it makes everyone better.
Mahal’s sole televised bout since facing Rollins is a win over Apollo Crews in WWE Main Event.
Mahal recently visited Saudi Arabia to open the WWE Experience exhibition in Riyadh.
