Jim Ross reacts at the Tony Khan-Shane McMahon Meeting in todays Wrestling news

Jim Ross believes Shane McMahon will be a good addition to AEW.

In the early part of this week, it was reported that Tony Khan and Shane met in Arlington, Texas. The meeting was said to be to discuss possible futures. Later, Shane released a statement to confirm the “great” encounter. In his statement, Shane stated that he and Khan discussed many things but mainly about their “shared passion for the [pro-wrestling] business and the challenges and rewards of working with family.”

WrestleTalk published a photo of the meeting. Ross discussed his reaction to the photo on his Grilling JR Podcast. He also discussed what he believes Shane would bring to AEW if he joined the promotion.

Ross said, “That’s actually pretty cool.” “Shane could do a lot. He could do some things physically, within reason. He has a great name. People know who he’s. You don’t need to explain that this is Vince McMahon’s son. This is Stephanie McMahon’s brother. All of that goes without saying. If Tony [Khan] is an entrepreneur and if he believed that Shane could be a good fit for AEW and if Shane felt he could make some money, have some fun — I’m certain Shane doesn’t need a lot of cash, but he can have fun and contribute. The wrestling business is in Shane’s blood. What else can he do if he wants that career? What else can he do?”

Ross, 72, said he was a Shane fan. They’ve been friends since Shane was a high school student. Ross does not have any inside information that Shane will be joining AEW, but he thinks Shane would make a good television character.

Ross said, “I think he can help us in many ways, strategically.” “As a television character, that’s the main thing. We’ll have to wait and watch how this turns out. I don’t know if he is the right guy or have any inside information, but he could be added at some point. If so, with both of their creative abilities it would be entertaining.”

Since Ross and Conrad Thompson discussed the hypothetical idea of Shane joining AEW on Grilling JR a few weeks ago, it has become a hot topic online.

Ross, “Hall of Fame Voice of Wrestling,” is with AEW as of 2019. Ross announced in March that he signed a one-year contract to continue working with AEW. His role is to provide commentary at AEW’s pay-per view events.
