Ross announced last month he would be taking a break for health reasons.

Jim Ross provided a health update in the latest episode of this podcast.
The 71-year old said he hopes he can return to AEW by December 30, but has health issues that need to be addressed.

Ross said:

I’m taking things one day at a a time. I feel great. My leg hurts. All that stuff is nothing new. It’s a wound that’s been open over a year. This is not good.

Ross said that high blood sugar is suspected to be the reason why his leg didn’t heal properly. Recently, he began taking insulin injections and his levels have dropped significantly.

Ross continued:

The medications that were prescribed to me work. Mentally, I feel as though I’m back on the hunt. I don’t know what my future will be at AEW. I have no clue. To be honest, I don’t care whether it’s a yes or a no. For God’s sake my work should still be relevant after 50 years. Sometimes I worry too much.

Conrad Thompson asked Ross if he hoped to return to AEW before Worlds End, on December 30. Ross replied:

I was thinking about the pay-per view that you mentioned coming up on Long Island. But it’s a wish that I will be able to work at the level I need to.

I don’t know a date. It’s hard to plan. I don’t like to disappoint myself. If I say that I will do something, it will be done. But I can’t commit right now because there are still some ongoing health problems that I need to address and they are currently being addressed.

Ross continued to talk about how important it is to him to return to the wrestling industry.

It’s hard to believe that I’m 71 years old and have spent my entire life in this industry. I was only in my early 20s. No regrets. It’s in my blood. As long as I love wrestling, I will be involved in any way I can.

It can be cruel. It’s often challenging, but I love it for some reason. Now that Jan is gone, I’m looking for something new to love. And I’m really not being humorous here. I need to get something ready to fill the void, because I can’t, God bless her. I wish I could, replace her.
