Jim Ross believes that this year’more than probable’ will be his final year as a broadcaster in todays Wrestling news
Ross signed a one-year contract extension with AEW.
Jim Ross believes that this is likely to be his last year as a professional wrestling announcer.
Ross, 72, recently signed a new contract at AEW. It’s an annual deal.
During a Q&A segment of his Grilling JR Podcast, Ross was asked if he thought this year could be his last year of Hall of Fame commentary. Ross said that he believes it is “more than probable” that this will be his final year of announcing. However, the exact date has yet to be determined. Ross said it’s up him, his health and Tony Khan.
I agree. It’s a realistic way to think. You know, i’m 72. I feel good. I feel better every day. But I know that this year could be my last — and it most likely will. This is yet to be determined. It’s up to me, my health and Tony Khan to decide how much he wants me to be used. As I understand, I’m working essentially only pay-per view. As the plan stands, I’ll be working pay-per views once a month. We all know in pro wrestling that things can change at a moment’s notice and I don’t think this will be the case on this occasion.
Ross said he was fine with the plan that he only calls AEW PPVs.
Ross returned to the commentary booth at AEW’s Revolution in early August after a period of time away due to health issues. He called the final two matches of the PPV including Sting’s Retirement Match.
Ross has been a part of AEW ever since the promotion was established in 2019.
