Jeff Jarrett opened up about his experience in Calgary at the Owen Hart Foundation Tournament finals.
Jarrett and Dr. Martha Hart presented the Owen Hart Cup to tournament winner Bryan Danielson on Dynamite last week after Danielson defeated Hangman page in the finals. Jarrett believes Owen would have loved to see the three of them in the ring.
“Martha, in the ring, who just announced Bryan Danielson as the winner, Bryan had the belt over his shoulders, and me and him were jointly lifting the cup. Jarrett recently said on his My World Podcast that the old adage “a picture is worth a thousand words” really applies to him. “It epitomizes Owen’s in ring skills to me.” Bret was his baby brother and I’m certainly not saying he held him to (Bret’s) standards, but Bret was the Hart Foundation, and he ran that tag team, so the spotlight was naturally and rightfully on Bret. Bret, I believe, would tell you how good Owen’s in-ring abilities were.
He continued:
“For Martha, myself and Bryan, a good friend, I’ve been respecting him for many years, but I believe he’s currently the best in-ring, in-ring professional wrestling because he tells tales, passion, heart… And for him to win the tourney, me being a part of that, Conrad, was really, really emotional for me.”
“Owen… I don’t want to say that he was looking down but I think he is aware of it and I hope this made him smile. Jarrett continued, “The Owen I knew and loved would have loved it. He probably would have liked to pull a few ribs here or there, but …” Jarrett.
Jarrett said that he spent time with Martha Hart and Oje after the show. Oje stated that he felt closer to his dad when he took part in the Owen Hart Foundation’s events with AEW.
Jarrett says in the video that Oje has said, “A lot of years have passed since he left but I’ve never felt closer to my father since doing these things. It’s good for both of us.” “It’s really a hard hit.” “It’s probably hitting you the same way that it’s hitting me, so thank you, man.”
Jarrett replied to Oje’s comments in his podcast by saying, “That warmed me heart in so many different ways.” I can’t even put it into words.
