Janel Grant’s representative has released a press release regarding Vince McMahon’s message on social networks.
Ann Callis, Grant’s lawyer, responded to McMahon on Monday’s social media post where he dismissed his new series that premieres Tuesday. He mentioned the lawsuit briefly, referring to it as “an relationship I ended”.
“Vince McMahon sexually assaulted, physically abused and human trafficked Janel grant for more than two year.” Calling his criminal and horrific behavior “an affair” was delusional, and nothing more than an attempt to salvage his ruined reputation,” Callis’s statement reads. “Although Ms. Grant may not have seen the “Mr. McMahon”, we hope that it sheds light on his criminal and abhorrent actions by accurately portraying his abusive and exploitative behaviors. “Ms. Grant will not be silenced any longer by McMahon.”
“Her story is a powerful one, even though it is deeply disturbing and extremely painful. It can help other abuse victims find their voice.” We want to hold McMahon and WWE accountable, and give Ms. Grant a day in court.
McMahon stated in his statement that the docuseries was intended to confuse viewers as to whether his character on air, Mr. McMahon is him or not.
Grant filed a lawsuit in January against McMahon and WWE. The judge officially paused this lawsuit in June at the request of Justice Department which is conducting their own investigation into McMahon. The lawsuit will resume in December.
